Lift Your Neck With These Non-Surgical Treatments

If we’ve got a superpower to stop or reverse the hands of time to keep our skin look youthful forever, we would’ve happily done that. Unfortunately, this is not an option.One of the biggest concerns as we age is our neck skin, simply because your neck tells too much about how gracefully you age. Yes, some wrinkles and lines are just inevitable, but there is always something that you can do to make things less severe.

The good news is that you can tighten up your sagging skin now by a simple visit to your dermatologist without having to get under the knife.

1 || Ultherapy

Ultherapy is an non-evasive treatment that is best known for tightening and lifting of the neck and jawline.  It is customized ultrasound treatment that stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the body by shooting ultrasound waves into the deeper layers of the skin. The best part about Ultherapy is that the improvements continue over a 3-6 month period.  Ultherapy is recommended every 6 months.

2 || Fillers

Injectable fillers are another option to plump your neck skin. It works by adding volume to the area reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. While Hyaluronic Acid fillers won’t fix sagging skin, it will give your neck a smooth and sculpted appearance. Some injectable dermal fillers include Bellafill, Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, and Sculptra. The results of any filler treatment will last anything between 6 to 12 months.

3 || Botox

Often times, the neck and jawline are subject to a lot of tugging and pulling of muscles that affect the texture and quality of the skin, creating bands either vertically or horizontally.  These can be remedied with Botox, which is injecting into these bands and jawline.  As always, Botox paralyses the muscles, which relaxes the area, preventing further tugging and pulling.  It is important to note that a number of people experience discomfort from these injections, this specifically happens when the injection is given too deeply.  The muscles of the neck are particularly superficial, and going too deep can affect swallowing or breathing for a short period of time.

4 || Laser Treatment

Laser treatments are your best bet if you want to address issues like sun or age spots, fine-lines and improve skin’s elasticity. The thing about some laser treatments is that they require a downtime of 4 – 7 days. Fractional CO2 lasers have been proved to improve skin’s laxity, pigmentation and increase collagen production leaving you with a tighter and plumper skin.

If you choose a type of laser that requires less downtime, then you may need more than one session to start seeing results. In any case, laser treatments may increase the pigmentation in those with darker skin tones. So make sure to consult your doctor before choosing any laser treatment.

5 ||Kybella

If you got excess fat and a tight skin in your neck area your doctor may recommend kybella. Kybella is an injection that contains of deoxycholic acid to dissolve submental fat. The treatment which takes no more than 30 minutes will start to show results within 4 – 6 weeks. You may see some redness or swelling in the place of injection after the treatment and this is totally normal.

6 || CoolSculpting

This treatment uses cold temperature to freeze fat cells to death. Once fat cells are damaged your body can get rid of them naturally. Although coolsculpting results are not as effective as kybella, patients go for it more because it is completely non-invasive. Coolsculpting is mainly for getting rid of extra fat and it does not tighten the skin. You will need 2 – 3 sessions to start notinc.
