Micro-Coring || The New Non-Invasive Anti-Aging Innovation

The needle serves us very well when it comes to solving many beauty issues from precise placement of dermal fillers and injectables under the skin and creating micro-injuries for collagen stimulation in procedures like micro-needling, to even delivering fat-dissolving and cellulite-reducing solutions. This explains why dermatologists and plastic surgeons count on these slim pieces of metal for anything and everything imaginable.

Introducing micro-coring; a new non-surgical device that is said to change the skin-tightening game. The technology uses hollowed-out needles to non-surgically remove pieces of loose skin without the need for plastic surgery. Here is everything you need to know.

How Does Micro-Coring Work?

Micro-coring uses little bunch biopsies to remove thousands of tiny columns of skin. This creates micro-injuries that stimulate collagen production.

Are You A Candidate?

If going under the knife is not an option and you have mild to moderate skin laxity and sagging along the jawline, cheeks, jowls, and chin, then micro-coring can come in handy.

Most patients need three sessions at least one month apart to get desired results.

What To Expect?

The reduction in skin surface area combined with the contraction and production of collagen, results in smoother, tighter skin. However, it is not considered a scarless facelift or a modern-day alternative to facial plastic surgery.

After the treatment, you can expect some bleeding, scabbing, residual redness, and minor bruising and swelling. No visible scarring is involved.

What Are The Pros & Cons?

The pros

1 || Non-surgical skin-tightening: As mentioned above, Micro-Coring is a device that uses tiny hollow needles to remove the skin on the cheeks, along the jawline, and under the chin. It removes around 4 to 8 percent of skin in the treatment area. The cherry on top? The micro-injuries created during the treatment help to stimulate collagen resulting in softer and more rejuvenated skin.

2 || No Scarring is Involved: This is because the tissue removals are small enough (less than 500 micrometers in width) that they don’t create scars.

3 || Minimal Downtime: You’ll only need three to four days to heal.

The Cons

1 || It Doesn’t Tighten The Skin Like a Facelift: Micro-coring only offers minimal tightening. While facelift surgeries manipulate the facial musculature. Also, micro-coring only addresses skin laxness and not the supporting SMAS layer that supports the skin.

2 || Its Effects on Darker Skin are Unclear

The experiments of this device were only done on lighter skin tones, so it remains unclear whether or not it is safe on darker tones. But given the fact that there isn’t a lot of energy or heat being used with this treatment, the results on darker skin should not be so different.

3 || The results are Not Instant

One session may be more than enough for patients with mild skin laxity. But those with moderate to severe laxity may need more. It takes up to three months to see desired results.
