So What Is BBL Therapy Anyways?

We at CIIN love the idea of embracing “aging” instead of fighting it. And with that we don’t mean that you should leave your skin to the natural conditions to wreck havoc on it.. It is only that you don’t have to go under the knife to look 10 years younger. All you need to do is giving it the TLC it needs so you can slow down the signs of aging. What if there is a “safe” way that can make you look 40 in your 50’s?

BroadBand Light (BBL) does much more than that. And while we are enjoying the cozy rainy days, it is a good time to consider a laser treatment to prepare our skin for the sunny days to come. One the most popular and effective laser treatments is what is known as BroadBand Light (BBL) or sometimes photofacial. This treatment has been used for ages and its results were and still are incredible.

So what is BBL anyways and how does it work? it is a therapy that uses intense pulsed light to treat many skin concerns such as vascular lesions, uneven skin texture, pigmentations, sun spots, acne, rosacea, wrinkles and fine lines. It basically makes you look 10 years younger, literally. The heat helps to destroy the pigmented skin cells and close off the superficial blood vessels. Any remaining brown pigment peel within 7 -14 days. The heat and light’s energy trigger a wound-healing response, generating new cells and boosting new collagen production.

The treatment is quick and painless. It is used to treat visible signs of aging on the face, hands, neck and chest, but it is safe to use on the legs and other parts of the body too. Before the treatment you will be asked to stay out of sunlight, and if you have tanned recently they might ask you to wait a while before doing the treatment. Also, If you are under any medications that make your skin sensitive to light you should tell your doctor. During the treatment which does not take more than 30-60 minutes your skin may appear red and you may feel discomfort in some sensitive areas such as upper lip, but that’s a normal reaction and should be gone after the session is finished.  After the treatment, you will be asked to avoid exfoliants and scented creams. and you may see that the spots became darker, these should flake off within one to three weeks. In case you felt anything like a sunburn an ice pack should help.
