Your Ultimate Guide For The Best At-Home Peels

Skin peeling wasn’t something that we dared to do at home. It was always left to the pros for a reason. But the beauty industry has managed to make getting “the glow” easier (and cheaper) for us by inventing gentle peels that can be used at home. Yes, it might take some time to look for the right ingredients for your skin concern and find out how to use the peel correctly, but once you figure that out, things get easier.

What is the difference between a chemical peel and a professional peel?

At-home peels have lower acid concentrations, making them gentler and safer to use at home. Professional peel formulas, on the other hand, have stronger concentrations of acids. This explains the immediate results we see after an in-office peel, compared to an at-home peel which may take much longer to show results.

What are the benefits?

Chemical peels are so beneficial for your skin. They exfoliate the skin improving its overall texture, reducing discoloration, acne and fine lines, brightening the face, and boosting collagen production. Basically, they give the glow we all dream of.

What to look for?

To know what you need to be looking for, you need to know your skin type and the issue you are trying to remedy. For example, if you have acne-prone skin, look for something with salicylic acid. Peels with glycolic acid better suit sensitive skin targeting hyperpigmentation.

How often to use a chemical peel?

Peels give great results, but they can be harsh sometimes. So the rule of thumb is to start slow. For some products, you need to use it every other week before starting to use it every week, for gentler products, you can start with once every week, then switch it to once every other day.
