Top Beauty Trends From New York Fashion Week
The New York fashion week has something for everyone not only on the fashion front but on the beauty one too. The presence of the ’90s vibes was obvious from the minimal trends like clean skin and slicked-back knots to the maximum ones like chunky glitter eyes to bombshell updos.
1 || The ’90s vibe
The New York Fashion Week took us back to the ’90s. Muted copper pouts, silver glitter cat eyes and supermodel-inspired teased updos with sets of cheekbone-grazing strands all emphasized the decade’s attitude.
2 || Damp finishes
Bright bursts of color and wet-look finishes are a must on spring runways. Serum or face mask application-inspired looks were big throughout the week. Wet-look hair and skin and looks that mimic raindrops are something that you may want to try now.
3 || Rapunzel’s hair
We have seen models tossing their extremely long locks over their shoulders at Collina Strada. At PriscaVera and LaQuan Smith, there were also super long braids and ponytails swaying down the runway. As unnatural as it looks, who doesn’t want to try such long hair at least once?
4 || Clean Skin
Skincare as makeup strategy is growing bigger and bigger each season. Instead of putting makeup backstage, mini facials were the way to go for prepping models’ skin. Khaite and Gabriela Hearst choose to go the clear complexion route using only mask treatments and supercharged hydrated to achieve the “clean skin” look. Other brands like Fendi and Altuzarra tried to up their models’ glowing complexions only with warming swishes of bronzer or blush and strategically strobed highlighter for sculpted shine.
5 || Pastels
Pastel graphic eyes, lavender-colored hair, and sky-inspired shades hit big this week. We actually love the look as it comes in harmony with the season’s vibes. Standout moments included some designers going out of the box and challenging ordinary color placements with powdery pigments washed between the eyebrows and across the forehead in a painterly fashion.
6 || Embellishment
From glitter-coated eyebrows and eyelids and bejeweled updos to abstract lash applications and 3D bubble nails, embellishments came in every form that you can think of in New York fashion week. There were some really interesting elements like Starface stickers, body crystal designs, and scattered fabric butterflies.
7 || Sculptural Updos
Because some drama is always a good idea. Defined waves, aerodynamic knots, and sleek and gravity-defying hair shapes dominated the New York fashion week shows. Sacha Quenby at Tom Ford wore a very interesting braided hair sculpture. But the fact that this trend caught our attention on the runways doesn’t mean that we like it or we are going to try it any time soon. Stay open for some drama though.
