But if you asked me now after I started to notice the huge impact of the different necklines on my outfits (without hijab 🙂 I will definitely tell you that necklines should top your priorities list when choosing an outfit. So what are the types of necklines? And How to choose the most flattering one for your body type?

1 || Sweetheart

Necklines

As the name suggests this neckline forms a heart shape just above the chest. It is the most feminine design and usually found in strapless dresses and tops. If you are the hourglass shape or apple body type, this neckline will balance out your shape and enhance your bust.

2 || Scoop Neck

Necklines

This classic neckline comes in different lengths, you may found some tops or dresses with a slight scoop, while others may have a deeper one. Flattering for all body shapes, this style will draw the eye downward elongating the neck and accentuating the collarbone.

3 || Halter strap

Necklines

This is a very familiar neckline that is created with straps that are tied behind the neck. It is great for emphasizing shoulders, neck, and bust. Avoid this neckline if you don’t want to make your shoulder look even wider.

4 || Jewel Neck

Necklines

Some refer to it as a crew neckline. This neckline resembles a simple round neckline that rests close to the actual neck. It got its name from the fact that it helps to showcase a necklace beautifully. While it is flattering for many body types, it is not your best choice if you have a large bust.

5 || Square Neck

Necklines

A square neck comes down in two straight lines before cutting straight across your bust. This neckline draws attention to the neck, bust, and shoulders which makes it great for those with a smaller top half.

6 || Asymmetric Neck

Necklines

Or the “one shoulder”. This fashionable neckline usually incorporates a single sleeve while leaving the other one bare. It comes in a variety of designs which means you should choose yours carefully if you have an inverted triangle body to make your shape look more balanced.
