Are You An Adult? || This Is How To Rock The Headband Trend

Headbands are here to stay. But forget about those plain plastic ones from your school days. We’re talking about the stunning, high-end designer headbands that can instantly elevate any outfit. These chic accessories have the power to transform your look and tie everything together, all while discreetly covering up any oily roots.

No matter your hair type; whether you rock short, fine locks, or sport long, curly hair, there’s a headband out there just for you. And if you’re feeling nostalgic for your childhood style and want to embrace it with a grown-up twist, we’ve got some tips and tricks on how to pull off any headband style.

1 || Padded Headband

A headband that takes us back to the ’90s. Achieving the look is super easy, part your hair down the middle and place your favorite padded headband about an inch away from your hairline. Voilà! It will look super chic with your monochromatic look.

2 || Wrap Headband

Perfect for summer days. To keep cool and get your hair off your neck, tie up your ponytail, bun, or topknot at the top of your head. Then, take the center of a folded scarf or silk wrap headband, place it at the back of your neck, cross it over the front of your head, and secure the end at the nape of your neck. Use two bobby pins on each side of the headband behind your ears to prevent slipping and keep it in place. Easy breezy!

3 || Dainty Headband

If you’re not quite ready to dive into wide and daring headband styles, try a skinny one to ease into the trend. Simply add it to your everyday hairstyle and see how it instantly enhances your entire look. To nail the vibe, use a flat or curling iron to create a relaxed bend in your hair. Then, give it a finishing touch with a light spritz of texturizing spray for that effortlessly undone look. Lastly, position the headband just a bit less than halfway back on your head. Easy as pie!

4 || Embellished Headband

A great way to dress up any ensemble. This headband is a statement piece so let it shine and keep your hairstyle as sleek as possible when wearing it (think low ponytail or bun). Put the headband half an inch from the hairline and watch it sparkle.

5 || Bow Headband

Yep, this one may not look so grown up, but with the right styling, it will become your go-to hairstyle. Begin by parting your hair and selecting a few frontal strands to leave loose outside of the headband. It’s best to start with fewer pieces and add more as needed.

Next, spritz some texturizing spray onto your hair to achieve that effortlessly tousled texture. If you’re looking to incorporate more hair into the front sections, extend slightly beyond your hairline and end just behind your ear. Separate these strands and position the headband.

To finish, gently tease the roots of the front sections to secure them in place and prevent them from appearing flat. With these steps, you’ll effortlessly elevate this seemingly youthful style into a chic and sophisticated go-to look.

6 || Scarf Headband

This is one of my favorites because it offers endless versatility. Experiment with various lengths, widths, and patterns to unleash your inner fashionista. Whether you want to knot it, tie it in a bow, wrap it, or tuck it in, the possibilities are endless depending on your mood.

To wear it, simply fold it as desired, then wrap it around your head and tie it in a bow at the nape of your neck. This style is also perfect for those with color-treated hair, offering a convenient way to cover up roots between salon appointments.

7 || Sporty Headband

To achieve this style, begin by teasing half-inch sections of hair at the crown for added volume. Next, brush your hair upwards and away from your face, securing the voluminous shape with a spritz of hairspray. For added hold beneath the headband, lightly spray the hair underneath it. Then, position the headband just beyond your hairline and over the tops of your ears.

This technique proves invaluable for camouflaging greasy roots, especially on the second or third day between hair washes.
