What Is Propolis Honey And Why People Are Obsessed?

What Is Propolis?

Propolis is not actually honey but a compound that bees produce from the sap on needle-leaved trees or evergreens. It is important to mention that Propolis is not sweet on its own. It’s a thick, wax-like substance, so you won’t find it as a stand-alone ingredient.

Scientifically speaking, Propolis is created when bees combine the sap with their own discharges and beeswax to use it as a coating to build their hives. It is actually not a new invention, as it has been used for many years to treat abscesses, wounds, and tumors. But while it has too many benefits, researchers find it hard to come to a conclusion on it as the quality of Propolis varies depending on the location of the bees and what trees and flowers they have access to.

The Benefits?

Wounds Healing

Propolis is a super antimicrobial, antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal all in one. Thanks to the special compound it contains “pinocembrin”. Which makes it so powerful in wounds and traumatic burns healing.

Cold Sores

Propolis is loaded with antioxidants and is anti-inflammatory making it the ultimate ally in immune support as well as overall metabolic function and protection from daily stressors. Studies have shown that it has helped to heal cold sores faster. Applying a cream containing 0.5% to 3% propolis five times daily might help cold sores to heal faster and reduce pain.

Diabetes Management

Studies have shown that taking propolis by mouth helps lower blood sugar levels and reduce cholesterol. But it doesn’t seem to improve insulin resistance.
