If you’re Into Layering, You’ll Need These Pieces

Staying fashionable during winter can be tricky for some of us. As we wear more clothes, things get a little complicated. So if you have been asking yourself; “how the ladies in street-style photos do it so perfectly without looking like a walking pile of clothes?” you are not alone. Well, yea some of these fashion bloggers work with the greatest stylists out there. And this is actually great for us as we get styling lessons for free. But, that’s not enough! You need to learn some layering tricks to master your winter looks or even go out of the box with your summer looks. The first step is choosing the right layering items. So here are some of the best layering pieces that you need this winter.

1 || The Oversized Blazer

Layering

You can wear your oversized blazer as a mid or outer layer. Your big blazer can elevate your look and add great depth to it. Also, it will be just another layer that will warm and style you up at the same time. If you have no idea where to start, a boxy blazer will do the job for you.

2 || The Turtleneck

Layering

We are guessing you already own some of these babies. Turtlenecks are staples for winter! They keep your neck warm and go with everything; under your slip dress, your blazer, shirt, or your jacket… And the list goes on. Invest in some of these, you will wear them a lot!

3 || The Sweater Dress

Layering

The sweater dress is strong this season. And we are lucky as it made up for a great layering piece. You can either wear them with only your tights and your coat. Or maybe take things to another level by wearing it with a cardigan as a mid-layer then add a coat as your outer layer. Add A scarf and you will be ready for a street style photoshoot 🙂

4 || The Shacket

Layering

Again this can be both mid or outer layer. The shacket is trending big this season. Wear it over your turtleneck, crop top, or even your button-up sweater like Gigi Hadid. Match it to pants or a skirt, up to you… If you wear it with a knit dress or a skirt, make sure it’s the same length or a bit shorter than what you’re wearing underneath.

5 || The Coat

Layering

You have plenty to choose from, from puffer jackets to wooly trench coats. This is your outer layer of course, so your coat should be big enough to wrap your whole outfit together.

6 || The Scarf

Layering

Don’t underestimate the power of little pieces. If you are a beginner, this is a great place to start. Put on your regular outfit be it trousers and a sweater matched to a wooly coat, then threw on a scarf and ta-da… You’ve got it.

7 || The Sheer Piece

Layering

Sheer went viral on the runways this season. And we are loving it. An effortless way to give the illusion of a layered outfit. All you have to do is to wear a dress or bra and jeans underneath your sheer piece… Or maybe take things up a notch and wear your bra over your sheer top or dress.

8 || The Tight

Layering

It’s an important piece during winter and you can count it as a layer actually. Also, it will give you a cool look too.

9 || The Belt

Layering

It doesn’t look like too much, but a belt can actually make a big difference. It will cinch everything together and soften your look. It is an often-forgotten layering hero but it will define your silhouette and keep the heat in.

10 || The Poncho

Layering

The warm capes and luxurious knit wraps are made for layering. Wear it above your dress, turtleneck and pants or skirt outfit. And maybe put on a coat over it. Just make sure that everything is tied up so you don’t look like you’ve put too much effort to get it wrong.
