Shilajit || The Anti-Aging Ingredient You Should Consider

With anti-aging potential alongside many healing ones, shilajit has been used for centuries in ayurvedic medicine. What is it and what are its benefits for your skin and body? Find out with us.

What is Shilajit?

Shilajit is a blackish-brownish resin or a sticky substance found in the rocks of the Himalayas, Tibetan, and Altai mountains. It is one of the many herbs and minerals used in the alternative medicine system Ayurvedic. It has also been used in herbal medicine as it has many positive effects on overall health.

What are the benefits?

1 || Anti-aging properties

Shilajit keeps the skin fresh and glowing. It is rich in fulvic acid, a strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory which helps protect the skin from free-radical damage keeping it healthy and young for longer.

2 || Upping Your Energy Levels

If you feel tired all the time then you need to add this magical ingredient to your diet. Shilajit increases energy by opening gateways to drive more nutrients from our food inside the cells. Combining ancient powers of earth and delivering them to every area of the body, shilajit has the power to make you feel super strong and super active. Farewell, fatigue days.

3 || Alzheimer’s Disease

In Alzheimer’s patients, there is an increase in the production of a protein called amyloid beta protein leading to the formation of amyloid plaques or clusters in the brain which is considered one of the key markers of Alzheimer’s disease. Fulvic acid, the primary component of shilajit contributes to cognitive health by preventing the accumulation the amyloid plaques in the brain.

4 || Improving testosterone levels

Studies have shown that testosterone levels got significantly higher in men who consume purified shilajit. And this is an important part of fertility, which is why it is said that this powerful ingredient can play a great role in treating infertility.

5 || Iron deficiency

Well, we believe half of the humans, if not more have an iron deficiency. This may happen due to many reasons such as a low-iron diet, blood loss, or an inability to absorb iron. Well, the good news is studies have shown that taking shilajit supplements can gradually increase levels of hemoglobin, hematocrit, and red blood cells thus increasing iron levels.

6 || Heart health

Shilajit decreases high cholesterol levels and triglycerides improving your heart health too. Even though, you should avoid taking shilajit if you have active heart disease as it may reduce blood pressure in some cases.

What is the right dosage?

Shilajit is available in liquid and powder forms. The recommended dose of shilajit is 300 to 500 mg per day but it is better to always consult your doctor before taking the supplement.

How to take it?

If you buy the supplement in liquid form, dissolve a portion the size of a grain of rice or a pea size in liquid and drink one to three times a day (depending on instructions). For the powder form, you can take it twice a day with milk.
